Currency notes in the United States have always been a big deal as that's one of the many things that makes you an independent country. For a while, the American dollar was one of the most powerful and valued currencies in the world but has since lost some of that value and power.

Since the beginning of the country, prominent figures have had their portraits placed on a dollar bill, actually all but one of them have been presidents. There were some talks about placing Harriett Tubman on a select number of $20 bills, but Americans still haven't seen those be produced by the U.S Mint.

The most sought-after bill of them all is the coveted $100 bill which is also known by several nicknames such as blue strip or Benjamin. Got any guesses on why they're called a Benjamin if you don't already know? Benjamin Franklin, the only non-president to grace a bill sits on the front of the $100 bill, which some are trying to change.

Michigan and every other state in the country could see changes to their $100 bills in the coming years. Republican Representative Brandon Gill from Texas plans to introduce a bill to feature Donald Trump's likeness on the $100 bill following his term. A U.S currency note hasn't changed like this since 1929 when Jackson became the face of the $20 bill.

Gill believes that this will be a small way to show gratitude for the all the things he believes President Trump will do over the next 4 years. His legislation follows a similar effort last week by Representative Joe Wilson, a South Carolina Republican, who proposed placing Trump's face on a new $250 note. That bill has the support of three other House conservatives.

Gill wants the bill to take effect in 2029 after Trump leaves office. It is unlikely to receive bipartisan support in the House and would almost certainly need all of the 218 Republican members to back the move before sending it to the Senate.
