Sextortion has been around a lot longer than a lot of people think as people have been shamed for their body, sexual orientation, sexual choices, etc. for years. Also, there have been many instances where individuals have been forced to do things unless they performed certain things or gave a ransom amount for decades now. As the internet and social media becomes more popular, these situations continue to arise.

5 men are finding out that when you play stupid games when you win stupid prizes as they have all plead guilty in a sextortion scheme based out of Nigeria. Johnathan Green and Jarell Williams, both of Georgia pleaded guilty April 2nd. Two others, Brian Goldmon Jr. and Kendall London, also Georgia, had pleaded March 26. The fifth, Dinsimore Robinson of Alabama, pleaded Jan. 22.

They all plead guilty to laundering money during a sextortion scheme that federal authorities say led 17-year-old Jordan DeMay of Marquette, Michigan to take his own life in March 2022. The scheme tricked people into sending them explicit images of themselves and then using those images as blackmail and reached over 100 victims.

The money that was gathered from the scheme was then sent through payment apps to the American launderers who would keep 20% and convert the rest to bitcoin to send overseas to the men in Nigeria, who have since been extradited to the United States to answer for their crimes.

Those 5 men were indicted last year on a count each of conspiracy to commit money laundering as they could be facing up to 20 years in prison. They are awaiting sentencing for their crimes while the two men from Nigeria have already pleaded guilty to running the sextortion scheme and are serving time in prison.
