Dangerous Messages Force Michigan School District To Close School
School threats have always been serious, as the most important and number one job of all teachers, administrators, and other school faculty is to keep the children in a safe and clean environment. Sending our children to school was once one of the safest things to do but now this has somehow become one of the scariest things a parent has to do.

In the last 5 to 10 years it seems as if the threat of danger at schools of all levels has risen to a new level. There are elementary, middle, and high schools along with colleges and universities that have had to go on lockdown because of threats to their campus. Some of those threats are active threats while others are online threats or messages.
Michigan schools have faced this danger on many different levels and what happened this week is only the latest incident. A Michigan school district had to close schools and activities for 2 straight days because of messages indicating threats toward the school and students.
Hillsdale Community Schools has been closed both Tuesday, January 28th, and Wednesday, January 29th due to Gier Elementary receiving a threatening message on Monday and the suspect has still not been caught. A possible suspect has been identified and it has been confirmed it is not a student of the district.
The Hillsdale Police is working with the Hillsdale County Prosecutor’s Office to find the perpetrator and bring forth charges. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing investigation, no one from the School, Sheriff's Department, or Prosecutor's Office couldn't provide any more information on the case.
Superintendant Ted Davis and his staff are treating this situation with the utmost respect and seriousness while working to keep all the schools and students safe. The Hillsdale Community Schools District includes Bailey Early Childhood Center, Gier Elementary School, Davis Middle School, Hillsdale High School, and Horizon Alternative School.
