Eddie Griffin To Perform In Kalamazoo At The State Theatre

I remember the first time I was introduced to Eddie Griffin, it was as Hicks, his character in the hit movie series Deuce Bigalow. Believe it or not, I was entirely too young to be watching the movies at the time but nonetheless, I learned very quickly that Eddie Griffin was absolutely hilarious. His one-liners, witty jokes, and unreal personality shined through his acting which led me to his standup comedy material.

Its undeniable that on July 15th, 1968, a star was born in Kansas City, Missouri. The popular comedian turned actor has been dazzling the big stages since the late 1900s and doesn't look to stop anytime soon. Half of Malcolm and Eddie will be right here in our backyard as Eddie Griffin is making a trip to Southwest Michigan.

Eddie Griffin was voted class clown 3 years in a row while in high school, which I'm not the least bit surprised by this. What does surprise me is that Eddie was a dancer in high school and by the age of 16, he was choreographing the Kansas City Chiefs Halftime show performances.

But all of that would soon change when one night his cousin dared him to go on stage at the local comedy club Sanford and Sons where he was told to do 3 minutes. He performed off-the-cuff for 45 minutes successfully. It was then that Griffin purchased a one-way ticket to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up.
