Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease back in 2016 although no cause of death has been announced.

Bennett won 20 Grammy Awards and sold more than 50 million records worldwide. Bennett was best known for his melodic, jazz-influenced phrasing, and simple interpretations of musical standards with songs like I Left My Heart in San Francisco, The Good Life, Rags to Riches, Stranger in Paradise, Fly Me to the Moon, Who Can I Turn to (When Nobody Needs Me) and so many more. Legendary Frank Sinatra once said, "For my money, Tony Bennett is the best singer in the business. He excites me when I watch him."

On May 8, 2018, 91-year-old Tony Bennett brought his smooth melodies to DeVos Performance Hall. Bennett performed 23 songs filled with all his classics and closed out his performance with Fly Me to the Moon and received a standing ovation.
