It’s almost common knowledge by now that if you are a part of any local group on Facebook, you will always get somebody questioning what those loud booms were that they heard.

Most of the time, it's people setting off minor explosives, but this week, you may be experiencing the sound of large booms happening overnight and from the sky. No doubt those won’t be explosions, but what will they be?

Most likely, if you live along the southern border of Michigan or the northern border of Ohio and Indiana, you may be hearing some loud noises coming from the sky, but luckily, that’s only the 180th Fighter Wing.

But why are loud jets making booming noises overnight? It’s because they’re doing their night flying from May 12 through May 15. They announced on their Facebook page earlier this week, with many people being a little concerned about this practice.

It’s important to know that the 180th Fighter Wing has done this night flying before, but many people are concerned about the biggest bird migration in the country happening right now, and the risk of potentially hurting them during their flight. While other people are concerned, there are still some people out there who love hearing the jets roaring at night:

Haven’t heard you up there in a long time. It will be so good to hear the jets roaring again. Stay safe.

Just be aware that this is happening, and that there aren’t bombs going off in the air or fireworks going off
