Portage Bids Farewell To Chuck E. Cheese After 42 Years
Unfortunately, the rumors about Chuck E. Cheese possibly closing down in Portage have been confirmed, as the company has announced that after 42 years, the Chuck E. Cheese in Portage has officially closed.
Chuck E. Cheese has always been a staple place for kids to have fun in the community. It was probably its highest peak in the 90s in popularity, but as they closed this location, they took a moment to reflect on the community and thank them for all the support over the years.

Chuck E. Cheese in Portage Closes
Since first opening as Showbiz Pizza Place in 1983 and later returning as Chuck E. Cheese in 2000 at 6175 S. Westnedge Avenue, our Portage location has been honored to be part of your birthdays, milestones, and family traditions. From first visits full of wonder to decades of parties and laughter—whether with the Studio C Alpha stage or our modern video wall—the heart of this store has always been the families who filled it with joy.
All the fun passes and monthly memberships at the Portage location have been canceled, and prorated refunds are being automatically issued. They’re prompting that anybody with questions can email funpass@chuckecheese.com.
Where I grew up in Rochester Hills, there was a Chuck E. Cheese right across the street from my house, so it was pretty common to spend most of my childhood there.
Southwest Michigan Finally Gets Its Long-awaited Kroger Store
With the closure of this business, we are all about waiting for confirmation to find out that Kroger plans on building a supermarket in the plaza that once held this and other establishments, like Big Lots and Joann Fabrics.
The company recently purchased the area, but has not officially announced the opening of the first location in Southwest Michigan.
