Just when you thought that the greater Lansing area couldn't take any more construction, here's another update.

If you travel in the greater Lansing area, it probably feels like the list of roads without construction is much shorter than those with it.

Where Will the Road Closures Be?

Lansing just added more to the list with an update about road work along Michigan Avenue and Clippert Street.

Starting Monday, September 8, "Michigan Avenue between Howard Street and Friendship Circle will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for roadway repair. The Clippert Street intersection on Michigan Avenue also will be closed."

This road work was slated to begin on September 2, but has been pushed back.

There are detours in place if you need to travel in that area.

Michigan Avenue and Clippert Street Detours

If you need to travel along North Clippert:

  • Head east on Michigan Avenue
  • Make a U-turn on Morgan Lane
  • Head west on Michigan Avenue to North Clippert

If you need to travel along South Clippert:

  • Head west on Michigan Avenue
  • Make a U-turn on Detroit Street
  • Head east on Michigan Avenue to South Clippert

How Long Will It Last?

This road work is expected to last until about mid-October 2025.
