Michigan Business Digs Up Fossilized Lightning Near Lake Michigan
I was never the most interested in geography or history, most of it seemed like things that I couldn't control or affect so I tuned a lot of it out. Over time, I realized this wasn't the smartest decision considering history is bound to repeat itself and geography is all about the place I call home, not knowing these important things could be catastrophic.

Michigan is a state that has a rich history and geographical landmarks that make the state special. Michigan is known for several historical events, inventions, and legendary people but it also has some of the most beautiful nature in the country to explore. Obviously, the Great Lakes are a huge attraction point for the state and sometimes you stumble across something unique while you're there.
Fossilized Lightning Found By Michigan Business Near Lake Michigan
That's exactly what happened to this Southwest Michigan Dune Buggy business when they took a visit to Lake Michigan. While at Silver Lake Beach, The Mac Wood’s Dune Ride team were exploring the Silver Lake Sand Dunes when they came across something they have become familiar with, fulgurite.
While prepping their 7-mile trail they came across another section of fulgurite that they believe is from the same fulgurite found in 1997 by Pete Wood, the son of Mac Wood. They also discovered two other segments of fulgurite in 2005 and 2019 before finding some this year. This time, they found a segment that measures more than 2 1/2 feet long.

Fulgurite is the sand glass mimicking the path of the lightning as it travels through the ground. They like to showcase their findings and has one of largest displays with a segment that is 9 feet long.
