Michigan: Kia Recalls Thousands Of Thier Popular SUVs
Well, just 21 days into the new year and we already have our first recall of the 2025 year. We all should've known that it wouldn't take too long before we were told to be warned of something not working properly. It seems like every time we turn around there is a new product being taken off the shelves or something needed to be fixed.

We can exhale a little bit as this time the recall has nothing to do with the food we are choosing to eat. Although, some of us have to be concerned because the cars we use for our daily travels may not be the safest. A large vehicle manufacturer has come out and said that some of their popular cars are placing owners in danger, including here in Michigan.
Kia announced that several of their popular SUVs are on recall due to an electronic issue. They have recalled Sorento, Sorento Hybrid and Sorento Plug-In Hybrid vehicles because of an issue with the headlights. These vehicles have an electronic issue that causes a loss of non-high beam headlights and taillights in over 75,000 cars.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Of the 74,469 vehicles in the recall, most of them are 2025 but a handful of the Sorento style SUVs are from 2024. They say the issue is caused by a software error in the internal computer system that cuts power to the low beam headlights and taillights.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Hyundai to come into a dealership and fix the issue. In papers filed with the NHTSA, Hyundai says “The Body Domain Control Unit (BDC) will be updated with improved software. Kia will reimburse owners for repair expenses already incurred pursuant to Kia’s General Reimbursement Plan.”
All owners will be notified by first class mail, but Kia Sorento owners can call Kia or the NHTSA hotline to inquire about the status of their vehicle in regard to the recall.
