Michigan Man Charged As Kingpin Of Multi-State Drug Ring
Drugs have been in issue in our country for years and it seems as if the problem just continues to grow. There are thousands of overdoses every year and teens are getting their hands on drugs earlier than ever before. Law enforcement has been taken measures since the 90s to fight the "war on drugs" but so far, they haven't succeeded.

All over the country parents and public safety officers have to be on the lookout for drugs and the people who supply them. I feel as though marijuana has become less of an issue now that it's legal in some states but drugs like opioids, methamphetamines, cocaine and others are continuing to cause concern.
Michigan has taken some drugs off the streets due to the efforts of drug enforcement teams, local police, state police, and the FBI. Jason Demyers who is from Arizona but has significant ties to Lansing was arrested and charged as the "kingpin" of the multi-state drug ring.
It's said that Demyers would have individuals involved fly from California to Michigan with drugs and then return with the money after selling them. They are being convicted of bring pounds of Meth and Cocaine into Michigan by way of Detroit, Kalamazoo, and Lansing from August 2022-July 2024.
Demyers was accused and charged as the leader of the operation and for his role in traveling with 10 kilos of meth. Demyers was given 27 years in federal prison along with 12 co-defendants who were all charged and sentenced accordingly. The other 2 involved with the ring are in a criminal diversion program.
In total, the investigators were able to recover 10 kilos (about 22 pounds) of meth, 8 kilos (about 17.6 pounds) of cocaine, and some $325,000 in jewelry associated with the conspiracy. Below is a list of individuals who have already been charged and sentenced for their crimes in connection to the drug ring:
- Franchot Barnes: 27 years
- Jonathan Conner: 3 years, 1 month
- Jamar Goins: 6.5 years
- Jomo Grady: 17.5 years
- Lanise Moody: 3 years, 4 months
- Evette Wallace: 9 years, 2 months
Anyone else that is involved but has not been sentenced is expected to appear in court for such ruling by the end of June.
