Michigan Man Extradited From Georgia Face Child Sex Crime Charges
Some of the most heinous crimes in the world are committed against men and women every single day but it always feels worse when a child is involved. These heinous crimes are also taken out on children who can't defend themselves every day. Often times, if the evidence is strong enough or there isn't enough, they are given a slap on the wrist, or worse, let go scotch free. This can make it hard for survivors to speak out against those that have assaulted them.

This has led to many people doing awful things on a repeated basis because they haven't been caught or even when they were, they weren't given a heavy consequence. This is not exclusive to sex crimes, but we do see these circumstances falling that way often times than not for those crimes.
The number of extenuating circumstances has created a situation where many of the accused are not caught until years down the line. That's the case for this Michigan man who was arrested and extradited from Georgia to face the music for what he had done during his time in the Mitten state.
James Carter, 62 from Prescott, Michigan was arraigned on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes.
Almost 17 years ago now, Carter was accused of sexually assaulting a minor and accosting her, along with another victim, for immoral purposes in 2008 in Hillsdale County. Now he has been extradited back to Michigan as a part of the Operation Survivor Justice.
Operation Survivor Justice is a partnership between the Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors and the U.S. Marshals Service to find, arrest, and charge those who have outstanding sexual assault warrants. Carter's bond has been set at $100,000 and he's due back in court on April 2nd for his probable cause hearing.
