Michigan Mom Seeks Justice For Son Murdered On Snapchat
Many would tell you that social media has been one of the most helpful tools in modern technology as it has provided revenue streams for people across the world, connected long lost friends, has kept long distance family members updated, and has made so many more positive impacts. At the same time, some people will tell you that social media is the bane of existence.

Even though there have been tons of amazing things that have come from social media, there are also a large number of negative things that have arisen from social media and its trends. We have seen many people lose their jobs, relationships, family, and have other consequences because of things they have done on social media. Also, social media can be a bad influence on young impressionable minds.
For one Michigan mom is experiencing some of the worst parts of social media. Her son lost his life while studying with friends and the entire thing was captured on video and posted on Snapchat. Although this evidence exists, there still has been no arrest or convictions made. She has not given up and is still seeking justice for her son's death.
Linda Preka Thom says her son Denis Preka was murdered by his friends as the videotaped the whole thing. She says her son's friends told him that he was taken an Adderall to help him focus while they study but they had instead given him "Molly" as a joke. Over the next 4 hours he would slip into delirium before dying.
While he was struggling to deal with the lethal dose of MDMA his friends were recording while telling him to Keep your eyes straight, dammit" and forcing him to drink coffee. The gut-wrenching video still haunts Thom to this day as she wakes up from nightmares of seeing her son's terrified eyes from the video.
She has since filed a formal complaint with the Attorney Grievance Commission against Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald and Assistant Prosecutor Marc Keast. She says that ethical and legal missteps were made when dismissing the criminal charges.
The case was dismissed because they ruled that the Snapchat evidence was inadmissible and wouldn't be able to be used as sufficient evidence in the case. This would lead to the case being thrown out completely and Thom still on the search for justice for her son. She says she won't give up until something is done in response to her son's death.
