Michigan: Recalled Tattoo Ink Could Cause Infection/Permanent Scarring
Getting a tattoo can be one of the most finalizing decisions that someone makes in their life. I think some people often forget what the word permanent means and don't always think twice before making a permanent decision. Sometimes temporary decisions can have permanent consequences that weren't taken into account before the decision was made. We see this sometimes when people regret their tattoos later on in life.

Technically, tattoos aren't permanent because you can have them laser removed or covered up, but both of those options are expensive and painful, so why not just get it right the first time? Nonetheless, as someone who has several tattoos, I think they can be exciting, expressive, and therapeutic when fully thought through and done correctly.
There are a number of things that could go wrong when you're getting a tattoo, and I have seen a handful of them happen with my own eyes. I have seen people pass out from the pain, I have seen artist mess up a tattoo because someone moved, I have seen infected pieces of work and more. Sometimes these things can be avoided and other times it's just unfortunate.
Recalled Tattoo Ink Could Affect Artists And Customers In Michigan
There are hundreds of tattoo parlors and thousands of tattoo artists in the state of Michigan and the cool thing about it is they all use different techniques, materials, methods, and more to establish their style as an artist. Most tattoo artists are diligent about using fresh and safe materials every time they have a new client but sometimes that's out of their control.
There's another recall on the horizon and this time it could affect all tattoo artists and those Michigan residents that are looking to get new tattoos. The FDA recently issued a recall for Sacred Tattoo Ink products as they are asking everyone to stay clear of the brand for the moment. The recall comes because federal testing revealed contamination with potentially dangerous bacteria.

The contaminated products include Sacred Tattoo Ink's Raven Black (Lot#: RB0624, best before June 28, 2027) and "Sunny Daze" (Lot#: SD1124, best before November 1, 2027), due to the presence of bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The bacteria can be resistant to antibiotics and can become very hard to treat if infection sets in.
The FDA is encouraging all tattoo artists and parlors to check their inventory and get rid of any of the contaminated ink while also asking consumers to be aware of the recall and asks about the products before getting their next tattoo.
