Can you imagine a world where money doesn't exist? Yeah, me either, it's been around for so long it's hard to fathom how the world was run without it. Once upon a time the only way you could have and use money was with cash before this was advanced by the banking system. Once the banking system went digital it was only going to be a matter of time before the United States was mostly cashless. Michigan Residents Can Still Use Zelle After App Shut Down

Most credit unions and banks have their own mobile banking platforms that allow you to have access to your funds to send, receive, transfer and more. There are also standalone apps for other financial institutions that allow you to send, receive, and transfer money between people.

Apps like Cash App, Venmo, Chime, and others have become increasingly popular as they contribute to the fast and cashless lifestyle that many people have adopted. Unfortunately, one business has shut down their standalone app making it a little more difficult for Michigan residents to use its services.

Zelle has shut down their standalone app and has restricted the use of its services as of April 1st, 2025. Now, users will have to go through their bank or credit union whether that be online, in person, or on their mobile banking app to send or receive money from Zelle. Zelle has reported that over 2,200 banks and credit unions allow their members to use Zelle through their banking services.
