Michigan Woman Sentenced For Joyride In Stolen Police Cruiser
I can admit that I am one of the few many people who have taken a joyride in a car that wasn't mine but what I can say is that the car wasn't stolen, and I didn't end up on the news. You know, bending a few extra corners when you mom asks you to run to the store or having the car for the night and choosing to just go on a ride before going to your destination, harmless things.

We never know what the day has in store for us until it happens, and I would say that if you told most people they would end their day on a joyride, they wouldn't believe you. For some people, their joyrides are less fun and often times end in injury or other consequences. That's exactly what happened in Northern Michigan when a woman decided to take a ride in a police cruiser.
Cortney L. Morey of Muskegon County was sentenced to 12 months in jail last week after she decided to steal a police cruiser. Officers were called to a residence near Ravenna on August 3rd for a domestic call. Upon arrival state troopers found Morey sitting on the ground and looked to be distraught.
Once the troopers had a grasp on the situation, they notified Morey that she was going to be arrested for assault and that's when chaos ensued. She began to struggle with officers and even bit an officer before they were able to cuff her and place her in a cruiser.
Once inside of the cruiser, Morey somehow freed her hands of the cuffs and found her way to the driver's seat. She then took off and led several troopers on a chase through multiple counties. She was eventually apprehended and taken into custody after crashing the cruiser in the nearby Newaygo County.
Morey was charged, pleaded guilty to, and sentenced with assaulting a police officer, fleeing police and unlawful driving away, in addition a malicious destruction charge was dismissed during the plea hearing. She would be given a year in jail with credit for 6 months' time served, placed on 3 years of probation due to a list of crimes that started with a domestic assault investigation last summer.
Lastly, Morey must also pay $1,200 in fines and court costs. Although she isn't dealing with the best consequences after those actions, at least the video of her chase went viral! Below is some dashcam and body cam footage from the incident:
