When Can You See The Next Full Moon In Michigan?
One of the most fascinating things about the solar system is the way that the planets interact with each other. More specifically, how Earth interacts with the sun and moon on a daily basis. As we know, the sun and moon rise and fall every night, but they go through different phases throughout the year.

The sun just rises and sets but at different times of the day depending on the season of the year, but the moon is on a completely different scale. The moon goes through solstices throughout the calendar year which affects the visible shape of the moon. Think of the several different half-moons and crescent moons that we see within a year.
Although the solstice process is fascinating to watch, everyone is looking forward to one part of the phase in particular, the full moon. There are multiple full moons within a year so there are many opportunities to experience a full moon. Many of them have nicknames but they are all essentially the same.
Snowmoon Pulling Up
The full moon that normally shows up in the month of February has been dubbed the Snowmoon because of the heavy snowfall that is a normal staple for a Michigan February. This year's Snowmoon will be dawning Michigan with its presence on Wednesday, February 12th and full moon peak is at approximately 8:53 a.m.
Although the full moon pops out early, the Snowmoon would be visible at night but keep an eye on the forecast as clear skies would provide the best views. According to space.com the moon is still in its 1st quarter but here are some important dates to remember for this month's moon phase:
- New Moon: Jan. 29
- First Quarter: Feb. 5
- Full Moon: Feb. 12
- Last Quarter: Feb. 20
- New Moon: Feb. 28
The Snowmoon is not a supermoon, but Michigan will see 6 different Supermoons in 2025. The next full moon will peak on March 15th and is known as the Worm Moon.
