Make Your Own Rug In This Illinois Mall
We've all seen the ASMR videos all over TikTok, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and every other form of social media involving rugs. From just showing the marvelous designs and how they appear in living rooms to cleaning rugs and everything in between, rug content has taken the world by storm and doesn't seem to be going away soon.
They even have DIY videos of content creators showing you how to tuft a rug and create whatever look you want. This concept has gone from watching individuals make and sell rugs to storefronts opening up for people to go and tuft their own rugs. There aren't any places in Southwest Michigan to do so, but there's one in Illinois that's close enough.
The Tuft A Rug storefront in the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora Illinois on the second floor across from Vans, is the only place that we could find in the immediate area with this opportunity. They give you the option to come in and make your rug dreams a reality. They have just about every shade of every color that's imaginable and play music while you let your creative juices flow.
Now imagine Build-A-Bear but for rugs, yes that's the basic concept behind tuft a rug. You enter Tuft A Rug and receive an empty canvas and are instructed to draw the design you have in mind for your rug. After you complete this task, it's time for the fun part, choosing colors and getting to work.
After you have collected your colors and found a workstation they will bring over a thread gun and teach you the proper way to operate it. Once the instruction is complete, load up your fabric and fire away as you are in the final stages. Vibe along to the music as you drill the fabric into the canvas and watch your masterpiece come to life.
Most days are free for all for you to come in and create whatever design you find intriguing but there are some special theme days that they like to do. As you can see above and below they like to hold special tuft events like College decision day, even May 4th with special canvas designs to celebrate Star Wars Day and so many more.
