The Next Price Is Right Star Might Be This WMU Professor
The Price Is Right has been on TV longer than I have been living and standing on Earth, it truly amazes me that the show is still going this strong. Which has me thinking that the Price Is Right might be one of the most timeless shows, especially game shows, that the world has ever seen. I'm not going to say that I've ever had aspirations of being on this game show, but I know plenty of people who do.
Also, we all have that person in our families or lives that knows the price of like everything or is just really good with money and would be stellar at the Price Is Right. Unfortunately for me, I'm not that person in my family but I do know that we caught my high school athletic director on an episode back in like 2015 or 2016. Someone else that works at a school in Kalamazoo is preparing to give the show a try.
Professor Luchara Wallace, director of WMU's Lewis Walker Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations, is preparing to make her television debut later this month on the Price Is Right. She literally just so happened to stumble across the opportunity to be on the show and took full advantage of it. It was like a lifelong dream had come true as she stated she has been watching the show since she preschooler during Bob Barker's time as the host, which premiered on the special day of September 4th, 1972.
Now, with Drew Carey as the host things are completely different. She was traveling to San Diego for a work conference, after receiving an email from the show, she noticed that the Price Is Right would be filming in the area and decided to sign up. When asked what it felt like to be on stage and a part of the show, Wallace said this:
"It's something that I'm not sure you could ever prepare yourself for, something you could never imagine" "And then you feel, it's an honor to be in that space, to be in that place, to be around the people and the nostalgia and just the current experience, it was fun.
The episode airing Professor Wallace's debut on the big screen will premiere on Wednesday, November 15th at 11 am. I really hope she won something or did very well so that many of us can say that we know or know of someone who was successful on the Price Is Right.
