As we all saw over the Thanksgiving weekend, the winter isn't just on its way anymore, it has arrived and has done so in full force. The temperatures have quickly dropped below freezing and we have already witnessed both regular and lake effect snow this year. As many of us will say and are used to, it seems as though we are in for a traditional Michigan winter.

Those of us that are from Michigan or have lived here for an extended period of time know how hard the winter can be on us, especially those of us that live near the lakeshores. There is already significant levels of snow throughout the state and we are preparing for another storm to make its way through the Mitten State.

With that being said, the temperatures over the next couple of months are going to continue to drop and remain below freezing. This instantly takes my mind and the mind of many others to those who are less fortunate or dealing with homelessness, as they are stuck to deal with these harsh conditions in Southwest Michigan.

Southwest Michigan has many people and organizations that are taking the time and care to provide a warm space and resources for these individuals, so they don't have to suffer through the winter. Below is a list of the warming centers in Southwest Michigan and some of the services they offer:
