I absolutely love animals and always have, now I do have my fair share of animals that I don't want to interact with, but I can definitely love them from a distance. Either way, I loved going to the zoo as a child and I still love a good zoo trip to this day, there's nothing like watching animals be majestic. Well, the only thing that would be better is if those animals were in their natural habitat.

That's neither here nor there, zoos give an opportunity for children and adults to see their favorite animals up close and even interact with some of them. Feeding the giraffes is something that most people enjoy when visiting the zoo and I have countless memories of giraffes throwing their large tongues around dripping saliva all over myself and others. What I didn't know is that Michigan is home to a very large zoo, one that I've visited multiple times, it's big enough to be listed in the 10 largest zoos in the country.

For as long as I can remember Binder Park Zoo has been open and providing smiles and great times to animal lovers ever since. I have spent many field trips with schools and other organizations walking around the zoo, riding the trams, and looking at all my favorite animals. It never once crossed my mind to think about how big of a zoo Binder Park truly is and to compare it to others.

Well, I would've been just as mind blown as I am now finding out that Binder Park Zoo is the 6th largest zoo in America. Yeah, you read that right, there are only 5 zoos in the United States that are larger than Binder Park Zoo. Binder Park Zoo has officially been measured and documented as being 433 acres big, the TikTok below shows all 10 of the largest zoos in America by acreage.

From my understanding this list is limited to zoos that are mostly walkable and may have a few trams. There are some much larger zoos around the country where you spend the entire time in a jeep and ride around the zoo rather than walking, but those were not including in this list from the knowledge that was presented.
