Outside of food and beer, sports are the one thing that can bring us together here in Michigan. We usually bond over the frustration of watching the Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and Lions struggle to succeed but we also like to get together and celebrate our young athletes as they grow through sports.

Basketball tournaments are easily the most common that we see in the area. This makes sense there are tons of courts all over the place and as long as you organize everything and provide all the materials you only need outside participation. Well, Galesburg-Augusta High School is looking for outside participation this summer.

They are hosting a one-day 3-on-3 basketball tournament for Kalamazoo area students. The tournament will take place on Saturday, July 15th in the Galesburg-Augusta High School gym. Students in grades 3rd-12th in the Kalamazoo County area are eligible to play and will be separated by grades for divisions. There will be trophies and certificates to Airborne Trampoline Park as prizes for the winners.

Registration is already open at 3-on-3 Tournament (google.com) and will be open until June 15th. The cost is $30 per player or $120 for the entire team unless you register before June 1st, then you qualify to save $20 and only pay $100 for the entire team. Divisions will be split up by 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-8th, 9th-10th, and 11th-12th.

Male, Female, and Co-ed teams are all welcome to play but there is no information on whether there will be split brackets for each or if there will be one big tournament per age group. Lindsey Newton is the point of contact at Galesburg-Augusta at Lindsey.Newton@garams.
