Once again, we're talking about the dangers of another recall as they seem to never stop. I don't remember there ever being this many recalls in a year, but they may have also been because I was younger and not paying attention to information like recalls. Part of this makes me believe that companies are either using different manufacturing processes, different materials, or are trying to cut corners.

Nonetheless, recalls are made, distributed, and honored to keep paying customers traveling in their desired vehicle without any added worries. Recalls are made by a manufacturing company when they have been made aware of a problem that is causing some kind of dysfunction within their product. This time, we're talking about another vehicle recall as these are one of the scariest recalls because safety on the road means more than just your vehicle. Another vehicle recall could affect hundreds of thousands of drivers in Michigan.

Both Ford and Mazda announced that they would need to recall several hundred thousand of their vehicles. Both vehicle manufacturers said that they have to recall multiple models from many years off the streets due to a safety issue. Both the Mazda and Ford cars are being recalled because of the Takata air bags which have been known to explode and produce shrapnel when deployed.

These concerns that occur during a minor crash, because the car is of old age, or from long term exposure to humid or high heat weather. So far, the NHTSA says 400 people have been injured and another 27 have been killed in the US from the unrecalled and unrepaired Takata air bags. The air bags have been previously recalled but these models had not received the maintenance before and have been placed on a "Do Not Drive"/ "Stop Driving Immediately" recall list.

For Ford, the following models between the years of 2004 and 2014 are under recall:

  • Ranger

  • Lincoln
  • Mercury Milan
  • Edge

For Mazda, the following models between the years of 2003 and 2015 are under recall:

The NHSTA says that anyone who has a vehicle under recall should contact their dealership or manufacturer and schedule a free repair so that they can be driving safely in style.
