We can all remember hearing the distinct and memorable sound of the ice cream truck. The instant we heard the age old "Turkey In The Straw" melody that rings from ice cream trucks we would go scattering looking for our parents to borrow a few dollars for a delicious, sweet treat. Nothing was better than getting a bomb pop, strawberry shortcake, or some other ice cream treat on a hot summer day.

For most of us, the ice cream truck is associated with happy memories and great summer days spent with our friends but now for this family in Michigan and many others in this neighborhood, when they hear "Turkey In The Straw" or see an ice cream truck they will be reminded of a horrific event that took place.

Detroit Michigan Child Dead After Being Hit By Ice Cream Truck

A young child in Detroit has lost their life after being hit by an ice cream truck on Monday April 14th around 7 pm. The incident took place in the area of Rutland and Diversey, but very little information has been released about the incident as a whole. We do know that the young male child was under the age of 10 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the ice cream truck did remain on the scene and was cooperative with police in their initial investigation. The driver would be taken into custody following the crash and investigation but in the meantime, has been released pending the results of additional investigation.

As of now they are still unclear as to what led to the incident and if there are any other factors at play.
