Michigan Couple Finds Historic Newspaper Time Capsule
The idea of time capsules is fascinating and most of us have participated in this act in one way or another, but it doesn't seem like things ever go the way they should. I don't think I can recall of anyone going back for their own time capsule and remembering the experiences but there have been a few instances of people finding someone else's time capsule.
I think this is what time capsules should actually be used for because it gives a true blast from the past to someone who has never experienced those things before. I would love to come across a time capsule that someone else left behind, it not only gives you something special but provides an opportunity to try and find the significance of the items in the capsule.
It seems like most people literally stumble across time capsules by complete accident, which makes it feel divine, I think it would be weird for someone to purposely go looking for them. Either way, many people find themselves in this interesting predicament just like this Michigan couple did.
There is a Michigan couple who was moving things around in their home as they were preparing for renovations when they stumbled across a time capsule. They were destroying their fireplace and bookshelf to make room for something else when they were blessed with the capsule.
Inside of the capsule was just a singular newspaper from the Muskegon Chronicle that has been sitting there for more than half a century. The paper was issued on Friday February 24th, 1961, and has been sitting in the glass jar they found it in for decades. There was one sheet of wax paper lining the top of the fragile paper.
As they pulled out, they were sure to be delicate as the paper could literally fall apart at any moment. As they unfolded the paper, they noticed that the materials were giving off an unpleasant odor, but they also saw they had a newspaper that was only $.10 and referenced JFK, early age advertising, and more.
