Michigan Needs To Consider Rescheduling Halloween 2024
Halloween is a time of the year that some people hate while others love and then there are the people who fall in the middle. Some parents are terrified of Halloween because of all the pranks and other dangerous things, and their kids are given candy that will last them months. Either way, the tradition of dressing up in a costume, walking up to someone's home and saying trick or treat, then being given candy is quite the concept.
This isn't an "I hate Halloween" smear campaign but the idea behind the holiday is conceptually interesting. Nonetheless, every year until the end of time we will see children running around as princesses and superheroes, parents joining in on the fun, and young and middle-aged adults going all out for Halloween parties. This year shouldn't be any different but there has been some conversation about rescheduling Halloween in Michigan and it wouldn't be a bad idea.
Halloween night falls on a Thursday this year, which makes for an interesting night right? People in Michigan have been discussing the idea of moving trick-or-treating and other celebratory festivities to the weekend. The concept is based on the idea that Halloween would be so much better if everyone was able to enjoy the night without worrying about school or work.
Halloween is a holiday where most of the fun is taking place after dark which means it is already after 7 pm, giving many children and adults only a few hours to enjoy themselves before they have to head inside. If the celebrations were moved to the weekend before or after Halloween then things would be better for everyone.

Celebrating Halloween on the weekend before or after allows everyone to enjoy the Halloween spirit for as long as they like while also making things safer. Children will be able to take their time loading up on candy before trading with their friends, siblings, and cousins for hours and those going to parties can be out all night long with the day of recovery on Sunday.
No, we're not trying to cancel Halloween or get rid of it, but simply make the holiday more enjoyable and stress-free for everyone by adding a day of rest after a night of fun.
