In a time like now where there are tons of restaurants and businesses closing their doors forever due to the ever-changing challenges they have faced over the last couple of years, there are other businesses that are still advancing and climbing up. Some of them have been able to open new locations in their current areas or even branching into other states while others have been upgrading.

Michigan is one of the states that has seen both the positive and negative side of the business carousel that has been spinning for the past couple years. Portage Rd by the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International airport is a great example of an area that is struggling to keep business flowing. Meanwhile, Downtown Kalamazoo has been seeing lots of positive changes.

Now, there is another restaurant in Downtown Kalamazoo that is looking to upgrade to their current space. Old Burdick's located on the bottom floor of the Radisson Hotel in Kalamazoo is looking to make a small rebrand and believes this renovation will take them to the next level.

Burdick's will be closing after service on December 21st, 2024, and will not reopen until the fall of 2025. Obviously, this is a pain to those who love to frequent Old Burdick's, but they should also know that there is another location at Wings West at 5076 Sports Drive off of 9th street where they can still get all of their favorites.

The following renovations will be made to the current space they have in the Radisson Hotel as they try to keep up and compete with the other restaurants and bars in Downtown Kalamazoo:

  • A 11,890-square-foot restaurant
  • 348 seats
  • Two private dining rooms
  • Four lanes of duckpin bowling

The Greenleaf Hospitality Group who owns Old Burdick's and many other businesses in the Kalamazoo area says they are thrilled to be reimagining the Burdick's brand and bringing an experience that the people and visitors of Kalamazoo will enjoy.

Greenleaf envisions the renovated restaurant as a central gathering place where people can meet before or after games and events. The bar and grill will be open for lunch, dinner and late night, the company said, featuring elevated sports bar staples like burgers, pizzas, shareable appetizers and a full-service bar.
