Charlie’s Place Host Annual All County Track Meet
Charlie's Place is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing opportunities, resources, mentorship, and more for children in the Kalamazoo area. They host multiple sports leagues and camps to get kids outside and active. Every summer they run the youth basketball league(YBL) and throughout the year they host a trunk and treat, back-to-school bashes, ice cream socials, and more.
The best part about Charlie's Place is the educational opportunities they provide to those who are preparing for college but also kids of all ages preparing them to enter the world and become successful. They aim to be a positive outlet for kids and showcase how fun life can be.
August is a huge month for Charlie's Place as they have a lot going on during the hottest month of the year. They start the month by finishing up the YBL season with their playoffs. Just two weeks after YBL concludes they invite the entire county out for a free youth track meet. Then they close the month out with back-to-school activities to prepare for the upcoming school year.
The track meet is a one-day annual event that Charlie's Place hosts, this year the meet will be on Saturday, August 19th at Kalamazoo Christian High School. Kids ages 5-14 can register now or even on-site for the event, check-in starts at 12. There is a group warm-up starting at 1 pm and the meet starts at 1:20.
They do not have a list of events readily available to know what kids may participate in but I'm sure that information is found in the registration process or at check-in. The meet is free for youth to participate in but also free for parents, spectators, and anyone else in the public to watch.
