Homer Stryker Field: Renovated Home Of The Kalamazoo Growlers
Baseball has been a part of the American culture since the beginning of time and is one of the most fun ways to past time. This is why the sport is considered to be America's greatest past time. There have been several different professional, semi-pro, and amateur baseball leagues that have come and gone over the years. Michigan has been lucky enough to have ties to many of those leagues.

Homer Stryker Field has been the home for premiere baseball in Kalamazoo for over a century as the earliest use of the field is in 1925 but the oldest structure from the current stadium, the grandstand, is from 1963. This was once the home field of the both the Kodiaks and the Kings which were minor league teams in the frontier league.
Now, it is home to the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods Collegiate Summer Baseball League (NWL). The stadium has been renovated several times with the most recent updates coming this past offseason. As the Growlers prepare to open their new season, they will be doing so in an improved baseball stadium in both optics and feel.
Kalamazoo Growlers Starting Season In Upgraded Homer Stryker Field
Homer Stryker Field announced that they had made some changes to their complex which will make the experience better for both the fans and players. First, they have removed the dirt base paths between home plate and both the first & third bases. They have also aerated the field to level out the playing surface.
These field upgrades were made not only because it looks clean and sharp but because it improves game play as the field is easier to maintain creating a consistent playing field. They did leave the dirt infield untouched other than those two base paths, but these changes were needed to help the field reach NWL standards.
They also gave their concessions and merch areas considerable face lifts to make these areas more welcoming and exciting for the fans. In addition to these changes, they made upgrades to the two buildings at the front of the stadium which now don the Growlers Blue.
The new and improved look and feel of Homer Stryker Field should be one that the Kalamazoo Growlers are excited with, but they have already started putting together plans for improvements in 2026.
