Michigan Employers Faced With 8th Biggest Hiring Struggle In America

I couldn't imagine that anybody around the country would have any problem finding workers, but I couldn't be more wrong. I do understand that there are some people who choose not to work or are unable and/or incapable of working due for many reasons, but the number of unemployed individuals can't be that high right? Wrong once again, employers all over the nation have been struggling to hire and retain workers.

Some of this may be due to the Covid-19 pandemic which shut the entire world down for a little over a year, causing many in the older generations to decide that they were done working and they were going to start enjoying their retirement. On the other spectrum of that many young people found alternative ways to make money or have refused to enter the workforce where companies aren't paying livable wages to their employees. These are only a few of the factors causing the alarming employment rates but there's many more behind the curtains and Michigan is at the center of it all.

With the labor force participation rate at 62.5% and 0.8 percentage points below pre-pandemic levels, WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s States Where Employers Are Struggling the Most in Hiring, as well as expert commentary. In order to see where employers are struggling the most in hiring, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia based on the rate of job openings for both the latest month and the last 12 months.

Michigan is one of the states that is struggling more than others to get their working age citizens to be engaged in the workforce. This time, they directed their attention to the employment rates in the workforce to determine how easy, or hard, that employers in each state have it.

Michigan employers have been braving a storm that is better than some but worse than most others. The Covid-19 pandemic was not good to us, and the younger generation has not shown interest in the traditional workforce, leaving our business in jeopardy.
