Motels and Bed and Breakfast houses were the beginning of travel amenities as they would provide shelter, bathrooms, and food for travelers. Today, that scene looks so much different as there are multiple Bed and Breakfast sites for homeowners to buy into, motels have advanced, and the hotels are one of the best amenities travelers can have.

Hotels have been loaded up with bars, movie theaters, conference rooms, dining halls, restaurants, and more as they try to appeal to customers and encourage them to spend their money. Don't forget about the pool, the hot tubs, and the whirlpool suites that have become more popular. Hotels in Michigan are among some of the best in the nation and this hotel is looking to climb the ranks as they add to their ambiance.

The Radisson Plaza Hotel in Downtown Kalamazoo is looking to make waves in the hotel industry as they have submitted new site plans to the City of Kalamazoo as they hope to expand their business. Pending the approval from the City of Kalamazoo, the Radisson Plaza Hotel is looking to add more restaurant and bar space along with duck pin bowling.

The sad part about this expansion is that they are looking to change things Old Burdick's Bar and Grill with a new restaurant concept, although we are unsure of what that concept is as Greenleaf Hospitality was unable to provide a comment. The plans want to change the main entrance to the restaurant and enclose the outdoor patio seating.

The biggest change will be the RIO gift shop that sits in the lobby of the Radisson Plaza Hotel being made into a bar and lounge for visitors to use. The plans have both a smaller and larger bar labeled within the plans that are set to add another 390 seats in addition to 4 duck pin bowling lanes.

Do you think the City of Kalamazoo should approve or deny these plans? Why or why not?

LOOK: Inside McDonald's Failed Restaurant-Themed Hotel

McDonald's launched its Golden Arch Hotel concept with a pair of locations in Switzerland in 2001. Rooms included arches over the headboards and showers that were visible from the bedroom. Both locations closed less than two years after they opened.
