For the first time in 10 years, the Detroit Tigers have made it to the playoffs which has the city of Detroit buzzing since the Lions are playing well and the Red Wings are looking to return to glory. Everyone is looking to get to sporting events and experience the greatness in person, but this could be more difficult than some people know because the ticketing world is crazy.

The Tigers were able to squeeze their way into the last Wild Card spot in the AL playoffs and had to face the Houston Astros in best of 3 series where all 3 games would take place in Houston, Texas. The Tigers swept the Astros in 2 games and have advanced to take on the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS, which means at least 1 and maybe 2 games will be held at Comerica Park in Detroit. Although you may by extremely eager to witness the Tigers in the Playoffs, Michigan State Police say be careful when purchasing tickets.

It's no secret that purchasing tickets to sporting events and concerts has been a wild experience over the last couple of years. Once upon a time you bought tickets at the box office and once, they sold out, that was it. Now, most tickets are handled online and what are known as ticket vultures have taken over. Ticket vultures are people who buy up a bunch of tickets and then resale them for insane amounts.

As you can see above, the Michigan State Police have placed warnings out to Tigers fans in Michigan to keep them safe from ticket scams. They say to use verified ticketing pages like Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, and StubHub and to pay attention to prices as well. They say if the price seems to good to be true, run and if it seems like a rip off then it mostly likely is.

Don't be fooled by a great deal you find on craigslist, Facebook marketplace, or other third-party selling sites but instead be diligent about purchasing tickets from a verified source. They also say to use a credit card for your purchases because you'll be able to dispute the charges easier if need be.

Although being at the game in person would be the best experience, watching the game from your couch or at a bar instead of Comerica Park is far better than being scammed.
