Thinking about how much the world changes in just a few years always blows my mind as so much can be done in such a small amount of time. For example, in just the last 5 years the world has completely changed after the COVID-19 pandemic and doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. While some things are able to stand the test of time, others are not.

Speaking of things standing the test of time, there are so many businesses and places that have been around for over 100 years. I think we often overlook how much of an accomplishment this is because of how much things change. Everything can be just fine but in a blink of an eye it can all change. For this Michigan restaurant, they have been able to stand the test of time for decades and are still serving up their favorites.

24/7 Tempo put together a list of the oldest restaurant in each state and through their research they found The White Horse Inn to be the oldest. The White Horse Inn is was established in Metamora, Michigan in the year 1848 and has been in service since then. Metamora is located in the thumb of Michigan and is a quaint town that is known for its horses and nature.

That's why The White Horse Inn is perfect for Metamora which is often referred to as "Horse County" as it falls right into theme. Just like anything else that has lasted that long, it has undergone many changes and owners. Here's what 24/7 Tempo was able to find:

Daniel Ammerman built this place as a general store, selling it after a couple of years to Lorenzo Hoard, who converted it into a stagecoach stop and inn which he dubbed Hoard House. After several other owners, Frank Peters bought it in 1923 and gave it its modern-day name. Several other owners followed, and it closed down in 2012. Husband and wife Ivctor Dzenowagis and Linda Egeland salvaged the place, reopening it in 2014 with a comfort-food menu.

I've never been to Metamora but now it might be worth a trip. I don't know about you but I am in love with comfort food and would love to say that I have eaten at the oldest restaurant in Michigan.
