
New Policy Changes Coming To All Starbucks In Michigan
Many people will tell you that they can't start their day or are not themselves until they've had their morning coffee. They even make shirts, mugs, and other memorabilia that says, "don't talk to me I haven't had my morning coffee yet". Coffee is one of the many traditions and methods people use to wake themselves up or to stay energized when feeling tired.

Yes, you can always just make coffee at home yourself and it will probably be cheaper but for some people, that is not always plausible. Coffee shops are also one of the many places people like to have first dates, get work done, or simply just sit to enjoy a nice day. Everyday coffee drinkers help create job opportunities for the baristas who carefully craft their beverages.
Starbucks is one of the most famous coffee companies in the world as they have locations in over 70 countries around the globe. According to many people their famous name and logo have been synonymous with good coffee for decades now. For the most part we don't fix what isn't broken, but you do have to adjust to adhere to the current times.
Starbucks is making a change to one their policies to adhere to the norms and vibes of today's day and age. They will be changing their dress code and becoming stricter on their barista's appearance, including here location here in Michigan. The new dress code will become effective starting on May 12th as they try to deliver a more consistent coffeehouse experience.
The new policy says that all Starbucks employees will be required to wear a solid black shirt and khaki, black or blue denim bottoms. Shirts can be short- or long-sleeved and collared or collarless, Starbucks will be giving each employee 2 new shirts for free.
Starbucks Locations In Michigan Effected By New Policy Change
The new code is being imposed to help the green aprons stand out and create a sense of familiarity for customers as they try to reestablish a warmer, more welcoming experience in its stores. This isn't the first time that Starbucks has changed their dress code either.
In 2016 they expanded the eligible shirt list to include gray, navy, dark denim and brown to the previous guidance of black or white. It also allowed patterned shirts in those colors. Also, in 2019, they changed the policy to allow one facial piercing as long as it is no bigger than a dime and this policy still stands today.
Starbucks Workers United labor group has already begun to fight back against the new policy stating they are in negotiations and would oppose any changes until their bargaining sessions are completed and there is a labor agreement reached.
