Restaurants We Wish Would Come Back To Southwest Michigan
The restaurant industry is one of the hardest to compete in as there are hundreds of restaurants in a moderately sized city, and you have to have competitive price with food that taste amazing. You must also be able to pay the bills for your restaurant space along with the staff it takes to run your restaurant. This is just the tip of the iceberg as there are so many more factors that affect a business.

This is why we have seen a number of businesses close their doors each year and why there have been some businesses that have chosen to remove their business from one place to another. Michigan has seen the food industry change completely during the Covid-19 pandemic and in the aftermath. Many restaurants started during the pandemic while many others were forced to close.
Southwest Michigan is one of those areas that has been hit extremely hard with the closings as many of the restaurants that couldn't stay afloat were mom and pop shops that were many people's favorites. Local favorites weren't the only ones to say good riddance to Southwest Michigan as many chain restaurants have also packed their suitcases.
While those mom-and-pop shops make be closing forever, those are the ones we miss the most because the chain restaurants are just moving to more fruitful areas in the country which allows for us to experience them while traveling. Whether it is a local eatery that you've been to your whole life and can't imagine not having it again or it's a chain restaurant it hurts to see your favorite food places go.
All of these places haven't gone too far from us as there are a few on the list that are still available in the Mitten state. That's why to take a little trip down memory lane, I have put together a list of the restaurants we miss the most in Southwest Michigan.
